THE SURGEON GENERAL'S TECHNICAL BULLETIN

The Surgeon General initiated during the fiscal year a series of bulletins entitled "Technical Bulletin No. 8-1, The Surgeon General, Professional and Administrative Guidance Material," designed to disseminate current professional and administrative information for the guidance of AMEDS personnel. The first of these appeared under the date of May 1960, and 15,000 copies were distributed.

This series of bulletins is not intended to replace TB MED's, and the material they contain is not to be construed as directive in nature. Directed actions will continue to be published in appropriate Department of the Army media.

The objective of the new series of bulletins is to provide AMEDS commanders, staff officers, and other personnel of the Army Medical Service with timely information that will help them develop a greater unity of interest and understanding. The Surgeon General encourages AMEDS personnel to contribute items of a professional or technical nature in order to accomplish this objective.
