OTSG REORGANIZATION

A committee appointed by The Surgeon General was engaged throughout the fiscal year in a study of the OTSG organization. The purpose of this study was to consider recommended changes in the

organizational structure, the basic missions, and the functions of the various elements. The reorganization proposal under consideration is a directorate system similar to that of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics. Under this system, the various divisions and offices would be grouped on the basis of their functions into directorates, each responsible directly to The Surgeon General. The committee is expected to make its recommendations to The Surgeon General during the early part of fiscal year 1961.

The organization of the OTSG, as it existed at the end of fiscal year 1960, is shown in the chart on p. 167.
